Competition to celebrate 2008 as European Year of Intercultural Dialogue

We would firstly like to thank all pupils and teachers who took part in our recent competition to celebrate 2008 as European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The main criteria for our competition this year was quite specific and demanding as it required the combination of ICT and language skills, originality and visible celebration of cultural and ethnic diversity in the class/school/wider school community.  Pupils chose to present their projects using a variety of media including PowerPoint, collage, video and interviews.

We were truly overwhelmed by both the number and the standard of the entries received which made the adjudication process very challenging for the jury members. The jury, which consisted of personnel from the MLPSI and from the competition sponsors IBM, were very impressed once again with the high standard of the entries. Our 7 winning schools (listed below) combined excellent presentations with evidence of engaging and celebrating ethnic diversity in their schools. Winning entries received a laptop kindly sponsored by IBM.
